Tarner Stories is a local community history project in the heart of Brighton. A two year project sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund we are working with individuals and communities to remember, record and recreate the stories and memories of those that have lived and worked in the Tarner/Carlton Hill area of Brighton from the 1930′s to the present day.

Based at the Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project, Tarner Stories is a community confidence and skills building project exploring the changing landscape and culture of this central, yet marginalized area of Brighton.
Through interviewing, creative writing, photography and art workshops Tarner Stories is creating a permanent record of the area and its people for future generations.
